BENEFITS OF TRAINING - EMPLOYEES

Get Ahead

Did you know that you can gain qualifications while you work that will help you get ahead in your industry?

Unlike other degrees, diplomas and certificates, these industry qualifications are proof that you can apply your knowledge and experience in real, on-the-job situations – that’s because they have been developed specifically for the sport, fitness and recreation industries.

Your employer, like many others, has a formal workplace learning programme to enable you to work towards these qualifications.

The programme will give you the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications while you are at work.  You will be able to get credit for the skills and knowledge you already have, as well as the new skills you’re learning on the job.

What’s more, the awards and certificates you will gain count towards qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework – just what you need to get ahead in your career.

What's in it for me?

Your employer’s programme is part of New Zealand’s formal workplace learning programme, called industry training.

By taking part you can:

  • Take control of your career path.
  • Make your job more interesting, enjoyable and satisfying.
  • Learn while you earn – no student loan needed.
  • Improve your access to better pay.
  • Start from what you know and have it recognised as part of the qualification you are working towards.
  • Add to the qualifications you already hold – these qualifications complement degrees and diplomas.
  • Show future employers – in New Zealand and overseas – exactly what you know and have done.

How does it work?

National qualifications have been developed for the Sport, Fitness and Recreation industries, based on the real skills and knowledge you need to work in these industries.  Your organisation’s workplace learning programme will provide you with a pathway for achieving a qualification while you work.  It might include learning on the job, attending a programme away from your workplace, or both.  The steps you will undertake are:

  • You and your employer decide on your training goals
  • Your employer registers with Sfrito
  • Your employer and Sfrito develop a formal workplace learning programmes
  • You and your employer sign a trainee agreement
  • Your employer and Sfrito write a learning and assessment plan for the year
  • You complete the learning plan
  • You are assessed by a qualified assessor – this might be someone in your organisation
  • You are awarded nationally recognised credits for what you have achieved
  • You gain an Award or a National Certificate once you have achieved all the credits needed
