In 2002 an amendment to the Industry Training Act saw ‘leadership’ added to the role of Industry Training Organisations (ITOs).  Over the years this leadership role has become more defined.  ITOs now play a key role in helping their industries tackle the skills issues they are facing.  We are tasked with the job of working with our industries to identify the current and future skill needs of their workforce.  This is more than developing qualifications and arranging training; it is working to ensure that the full range of skills issues facing an industry or sector are identified and addressed.

In order to give effect to this Sfrito is establishing Strategic Advisory Groups for the Community Recreation, Outdoor Recreation, Sport and Fitness sectors.  The purpose of each Strategic Advisory Group will be to provide strategic direction that will contribute to identifying and meeting the training needs of the sector in the future.  More information is included in the attached Terms of Reference.

We are currently seeking applications for the Sport, Community Recreation and Fitness advisory groups.  The Outdoor Recreation group will be established later in 2008.  We are looking for key sector leaders that have the ability to think strategically, have a handle on the issues in their sector.
