The National Pool Lifeguard Award (NPLA) is a national database of pool lifeguards in New Zealand. The register is updated regularly and is based on reporting received from NPLA assessors around the country.
To see information on a lifeguard you will need the Record of Learning or National Student number or their surname and date of birth. The register shows the four NPLA units 5683, 5684, 5685, 5686 and the two First Aid units 6401, 6402 which make up the NPLA. It also shows two dates - the date of assessment and the revalidation date. The revalidation date is based on the two yearly renewal of the NPLA and First Aid. The First Aid dates may be different from the NPLA dates as they are often assessed at a different time. The industry recommends that the oldest revalidation date is used i.e. if First Aid is to revalidate in Oct and the NPLA in Dec then the NPLA should be revalidated in Oct and vice versa.
